The NH-D9 TR5-SP6 4U is a 92mm size premium quality quiet CPU cooler for workstations and servers based on AMD Threadripper and Epyc processors that utilise sTR5/SP6 sockets. Built on the proven basis of the DX model with its dual tower heatsink and full-cover contact surface, the TR5-SP6 revision employs two of Noctua’s award-winning, PWM controlled NF-A9 92mm fans in their higher speed variant in order to achieve strong performance and superb acoustics. The NH-D9’s direction of airflow is parallel to the long axis of the socket, so it is ideal for builds where the hot air is exhausted this way. Topped off with the pre-applied NT-H2 thermal compound as well as the professional SecuFirm2 mounting system for sTR5/SP6 that has been updated to meet the platform’s increased pressure specifications, the NH-D9 TR5-SP6 4U forms a complete premium quality package for quietly cooling sTR5-based Threadripper workstations and SP6-based Epyc servers in 4U cases.

Enlarged contact surface

At 70x56mm, the heatsink’s copper contact surface is more than double the size of the standard desktop model. Tailored to fit the enormous integrated heat-spreaders (IHS) of AMD’s sTR5/SP6 based processors, this customised design allows for an optimal heat flow from the CPU over the base to the heatpipes and on to the cooling fins.

Dual NF-A9 HS-PWM fans

The NH-D9 TR5-SP6 4U is equipped with two of Noctua’s award-winning NF-A9 92mm fans in their high-speed 2500rpm HS-PWM variant. This push/pull dual fan configuration makes it possible to achieve a level of cooling performance that is remarkable for such a compact.

Pre-applied NT-H2 thermal compound

Noctua’s much-acclaimed NT-H2 is a pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance and outstanding long-term stability. Having the paste pre-applied to the heatsink base ensures optimal bond-line thickness and saves precious time in installation. Ideal for system integrators!

SecuFirm2 mounting for TR5-SP6

The NH-D9 TR5-SP6 4U combines the proven basis of the DX model with new mounting brackets for AMD’s sTR5/SP6 socket. Installation is just as easy as with the previous TR4-SP3 models: Put on the heatsink, fix the four spring-loaded Allen key screws using the supplied tool and you’re done!

Cooler Specification

Please note that the NH-D9 TR5-SP6 4U is a dedicated version for AMD sTR5/SP6 sockets. Due to its customised larger base, it cannot be used on smaller sockets and is incompatible with Noctua’s mounting kits for these sockets. Please refer to our socket compatibility overview for details.
